For those that like taking (drinking) garri in its raw form (as it is been brought from the market) as I do,but have stop, due to Lassa fever phobia (fear). I have good new for you. The good new is that,when you applied the following procedure below,you can be 100 % sure that your garri is safe for consumption because heating helps to kill whatever that is present in the garri.
The procedure includes:
ØPut the garri in a dry frying pan/pot
ØPlace it on fire (stove ,gas cooker) and allow it to stay for 8-9 minutes, while turning it continuously to prevent it for burning (turning into black substance)
ØPour the garri out on a wide tray and allow it to get cold and store on a water free container to prevent the reach of rats.
ØRepeat step 1,2 and 3 ,so that you can have a more safe garri should need to take (drink) garri arises.
Having gone through this procedures ,you can now put the garri into a plate and add the necessary (sugar ,salt .glucose,groundnut etc) and your tasty garri is 100% fit for consumption.
Remember Lassa fever is real.prevention is not only better than cure but it is cheaper than cure.
